It is no secret Mexico has a reputation for violence and criminal activity; however, Tijuana is no different than any other metropolitan city in that there are renowned areas and neighborhoods to avoid. If you are conscious of your surroundings and don't stand out by wearing flashy jewelry or getting intoxicated in public, you will be just fine.
You need a valid passport to enter and exit Mexico. As of 2011 CBP requires all citizens of the United States must present a valid¹ passport when entering Mexican territory by any means of transportation. There are no exceptions for minors. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your trip
No. Stays less than 72 hours within the border area (25 miles from San Ysidro Border) do not require an Official Entry Immigration Form (FMM).

The vehicle currently used for tours is a 4 passenger Jeep Compass.
At the moment the vehicle used to transport guests is not ADA or wheelchair friendly. Although many restaurants and tourist areas of Baja are wheelchair friendly, it is recommended that guests are able to walk for long distances and be able to stand on your feet for 30 minutes at a time.
When traveling in Mexico, your phone should work the same as it does within the United States. However, this will be dependent on your service provider and it would be advised to contact your service provider to confirm you will have service without incurring international roaming charges or fees.
We accept cash, all major credit cards, Zelle and Venmo.
Most businesses in Mexico accept credit cards, but it is reccomended to have cash available (pesos or dollars) and preferably smaller denominations for purchasing street food and tips.
No. It is not necessary to convert your dollars to pesos prior to arrival, due to the fact that Tijuana is a border town and many of the businesses accept US dollars. Ofcourse, you are welcome to bring pesos, and you will certainly get a lower conversion rate when making purchases, but most businesses in Tijuana often accept US currency for most transactions.
There are many money exchange booths available before crossing the border into Mexico, however the exchange rates are typically higher than in Tijuana and they may also charge a commission fee.
Tipping in Mexico is not only appreciated, but customary. Many of the wages made are low and most service providers work on tips and 10% is standard, or what is expected at restaurants and bars; however 15-20% is typical for exceptional service.
As much as it would be convenient to include all food items at each restaurant it's not reasonable, considering guest individual preferences. However, there may be tasting opportunities that are included in tour. See "What's included" section under Tours. Guests may have a limited menu included at certain restaurants, but guest may order any food or drink item on the menu at your own expense.
Most (but not all) of the restaurants will have vegetarian option like bean and cheese burritos, vegetable tacos and quesadillas.
All drinks and ice in margaritas are made with filtered water and are safe to drink. It is not recommended drinking water from the tap and would suggest bottled water at all times.
The minimum age to drink alcohol in Mexico is 18 years old and proper identification is required when ordering any alcoholic beverage.
There are a variety of accommodations available in Tijuana, Rosarito and Ensenada including hotels, resorts, guesthouses and Airbnb. If you would like to be dropped off at another location other than the San Ysidro border after the tour, please make accommodations with reservations at the time of booking tour.
The best times to visit Baja California are during the months of March to May and September to November, when the weather is generally mild and pleasant. However, we offer tours all year round - rain or shine.
Yes. You can bring alcohol back into the United States through customs but you must declare it and also abide by the following restrictions:
Federal and state regulations allow you to bring back one American liter (33.8 fl. oz.) of an alcoholic beverage for personal use duty-free.
There are severe penalties for possessing drugs, firearms and ammunition in Mexico. Firearms may not be transported across the border without official permission from both Mexico and the US. Please visit the US Customs and Border Protection website for further information regarding prohibited goods.
The phone number to report emergencies in Mexico is 911. Although there may be English-speaking operators available, it is best to seek the assistance of a Spanish speaker to place the call.
Tours will depart rain or shine. If the weather is severe, it will be at the discretion of the tour guide whether the tour will be cancelled or modified and guests will be notified the day prior. If tour is canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund. Refunds will not be offered on rainy days.
Tours cancelled within 7 days of scheduled tour departure time will receive 100% refund.
Tours cancelled within 3 days of scheduled tour departure time will receive 50% refund.
No refund will be issued for tours cancelled within 72 hours of scheduled tour departure time.
